Vegas Player Cards

As a player in Las Vegas, whether you are considered a high roller or not, it's wise to sign up for Player Rewards Cards at every casino you play at. These cards keep track of all of your betting activity within the casino. On the slot machines, there is a slot where you insert your card and it tracks every spin and wager (the same applies to the Video Poker machines). At the table games there's really no way to use this card effectively since you can't insert it anywhere. However, you can ask the dealer or croupier to track your play for you.

The reasoning behind Player Rewards Cards is many fold. The casinos want to know what games you prefer, how much you are betting, and mainly, to just get an idea of your activities in the casino. The benefits to you for having a Players Card is that, through this tracking, you are assured of receiving your comps. Land based casinos like those in Vegas, comp players for making wagers in their casinos. These comps can be exchanged for free dinners, show tickets and a myriad of other comforts offered at the casino.

Most casinos offer different levels of Player Cards, which are based on the amount of money you spend in the casino. For example, Harrah's Casino offers three levels: Bronze, Platinum and Diamond, with Bronze being the lowest level and Diamond being the highest. Your comps are awarded depending on your level. If you're a Bronze, then you qualify for a certain amount of comp points on a particular gaming activity. The higher your card level, the more comp points you earn for the same activity. After you reach a predetermined amount of comp points, these can be exchanged for rewards. In the case of Harrah's Casinos, you can use them at their in casino, inside stores, restaurants, valet parking and even for special events.

To apply for a card, you need to go to the casino's customer service center and fill out your application. This requires your personal information and identification, including your name, address, phone number and age. You'll be given a card as soon as you complete the form, and can start using it right away. There are swipe-stations located throughout the casino for you to check your comp points, which you can redeem at any time, so long as you've reached the minimum cash-in, which again, will vary from casino to casino.

The best cards to apply for in Las Vegas are MGM Mirage - the reason being MGM owns a dozen other casinos that you can use a single card at. Harrah's Casino and Resort is another good one, for they also manage several casino properties, including Four Queens, Aladdin's, Bally's, Caesars Palace, Circus Circus and Fitzgerald's (some of the most popular with great benefits).

When you have one of these cards, the casinos will send you regular statements disclosing the amount of comp points you have available to you. You'll also receive regular offers for discounted room packages, air fare to and from the casinos and special event invitations. Considering there's no cost to you, it's definitely worth the few moments it takes to fill out a Player Rewards Card application.
