Perhaps what the United States needs is some sort of oversight.  I know that sounds like the most un-American thing one can possibly say and in truth it is.  I am not even saying that I sincerely wish we had a governing body like that of European Union, but things would be a little different if they United States had someone to answer to.

The United States actually does have several bodies which they are supposed to answer to, such as the World Trade Organization, but it is hard to boss around the most powerful country in the world.  The United States, especially during the shameful eight years under the guidance of George W. Bush really did as we please when we pleased; blatantly ignoring all threats of fines and court action.  But, perhaps if we were a part of a continental community similar to that of the European Union, online casinos would already be legalized.

Some politicians in the United States, particularly Barney Frank, have been trying very hard to regulate online casinos.  He may very well succeed by the end of this year.  The United States has also been receiving a good deal of pressure from the international community about their protectionist action against online casinos.  But the United States is not considering regulating online casinos because of the opinion of the international community.  If anything the United States government is being tempted by the enormous tax opportunity that comes with legalizing online casinos.  This is a time when the United States can use any new revenue stream it can get its hands on.
