Hunt for Online Casinos

Yes.  Barney Frank is attempting to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and regulate online casinos.  As a matter of fact his bills HR 2266 and HR 2267 are supposed to be discussed by the House of Representatives this very month.  That has not managed to stop the witch hunt for online casinos and all involved from United States law enforcement.

The case involving the money distributor Douglas Rennick actually marks an escalation on the part of the United States.  Douglas Rennick is not the first Canadian citizen to be charged with crimes related to online casinos, but the others were seized while in the United States.  Motions are being made to have Rennick extradited; although, at the current moment Rennick is not in United States custody.

Before Rennick came the cofounders of NETeller.  These two Canadian gentleman where charged with offenses related to online casinos.  However they were taken into custody while on American soil.  It is not clear if the United States is going to go through with extradition or whether United States law enforcement will wait for Rennick to show up in on American soil.

It is a touch disconcerting that as most people feel that legalization and regulation for online casinos is just around the corner, it seems that the United State is stepping up it attempts to convict people with crimes that stem from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.  That does create some fear that the bill being proposed by Barney Frank are going to be the guaranteed success that so many people have come to believe they will be.
