Denmark Protectionism

Protecting citizens from themselves has been the battle cry for governments and organizations opposed to online casinos.  At least that has been the case in the United States.  Many proponents of online casinos have speculated that this was nothing more that a red heron to disguise the completely protectionist nature of trying to route online casinos so that domestic gambling establishments do not have to compete against them.

Denmark has become so overtly protectionist that one may begin to appreciate the attempts at a lie from legislators in the United States.  Denmark has issued laws in against online casinos that have nothing to do with protecting gamblers from gambling addiction.

A 35 year old Danish man was forced by the Danish Supreme Court to forfeit his winning so EURO 26,000.  Denmark has laws against playing online poker professionally.  The Danish man is unemployed.  So it appears that even when you are good a gambling and you are making money, the Danish government does not want the activity to be pursued.

It was discovered that the man was playing professionally when his records showed that he had no other sources of income.

This case alone should be enough to show that poker is not a game of chance.  Gamblers could not make a living off of a game that is not skilled based.  Especially to the extreme of this man who has no other source of income.

Denmark has shown an unabashed biased against online casinos because their laws do not prohibit professional poker playing, simply professional online poker playing.
