Options for Online Casinos The Poker Players Alliance refuses to through in the towel as the official date for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act to take affect is quickly approaching. The organization is well aware of how harmful the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act will be to online casinos and is pulling out every weapon in their arsenal to fight it off before December. John Pappas, the executive director of the Poker Players Alliance, will be the first to admit that online casinos are clearly not the first priority of a government that is still sifting its way through the rubble of a recession. However, his organization will attempt to do it best. There are a few options in front of the Poker Players Alliance to save online casinos from the vague destruction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The first option is the Administrative Procedure Act. According to Pappas, this act, “allows for individuals and organizations like the PPA to weigh in with the Department of the Treasury and ask for a delay of a proposed rule.” The fact that online casinos stand to bring in so much in tax revenues for the United States is also great selling point as they Alliance attempts to push for regulation. Apparently the organization is working very closely with Barney Frank to come up with some sort of solution. “We are working with Barney Frank and others for a non-legislative solution to clarifying or delaying the UIGEA regulations, continued Pappas. “Given everything on the Chairman’s plate, one thing off of it is a good thing. We’re hoping to see a delay.” |
