Bold CensorshipSome people think the United States is viciously protecting its gambling industry by not allowing online casinos. Well, they are, but our despicable efforts are nothing when held up next to the Chinese. The Chinese has openly forbidden participation of any online casino operators from outside the country in the Chinese online gambling market. In the mean time the Chinese online gaming market is growing very fast. Sales are expected to jump from any where between 30 and 50 percent this year. At least in the United States there is some sense of shame. The United States has no organized online gambling industry, so its acts of protectionism seem a little less dastardly. In China however, the are blatantly sending the message that they do not want outsider offering games to the Chinese people In order for domestic gaming providers to offer their services, they must attain a license from the General Administration of Press and Publication. However once the company has received approval, they no longer need permission from this Chinese government agency to produce content online. As a matter of fact, when it comes to online casinos in China the General Administration of Press and Publication is only responsible for the approval process for gaming providers. After that the responsibility shifts to the Ministry of Culture to maintain market supervision. The Chinese government has hid shamelessly behind “efforts to preserve their culture” when boxing out foreign competition. It may be a long time before any western based online casinos crack the Chinese market. |
