Wait and SeeSo, I guess the only thing left to do is wait and see what happens. Just in time for the holiday season, online casinos have received on gift after another. I suppose the biggest gift is a second chance at change happening sometime in the next few months. As the year tapered to an end, it seemed the hops of any major developments with online casinos would follow the same path. But the news of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act implementation delay was a wonderful surprise. The fact that a law that was so long in coming could be delayed for six months so willingly is a positive sign that legislators recognize it as a poor solution to the issue of online casinos. Now Representative Barney Frank has more time on his side. The United States Treasury Department has given him six extra months to get new legislation passed before the financial industry has to operate under the almost impossible guidelines of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. On Thursday, December 3rd, online casinos will finally be discussed by the Congress. A much clearer perspective on how the nation’s lawmakers feel about online casinos is expected to emerge. Up until this point the only voices heard on the topic are the extreme liberals, like Barney Frank (God love him) and the extreme conservatives. It will be nice to have understand were the more moderate legislators stand on the issue. It is likely, especially with all of the money that could potentially come from online casinos that the industry will see a lot of support. |
