Poland Against Online Casinos

While Europe may be far more friendly to online casinos than the United States, various countries in the European Union are still working out their differences with online casinos.   While there are countries like France that have come around and allowed off shore online gaming providers access to their market, there are still countries that are attempting to ban online casinos.

Poland is very much against online casinos and is leaning toward a full on ban of any form of gambling that does not take place within its boarders.  Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wants online casinos completely banned from the country.

Not only is he proposing a bill that will ban online casinos and all other gambling operations that take place outside of Poland land based casinos, he is also determined to impose higher taxes on gambling operators that legally offer services in the country.

This new anti online casino agenda is not yet law, in fact it is not even a bill, but a first draft of the bill will be proposed within the next few weeks.

The scary thing about the Polish ban of online casinos is that they may have enough motive to make this one stick.  Poland is not the first country in the European Union to attempt to ban online casinos, but they may be the first to gather enough political cause to make it permanent. In recent weeks, four Polish officials have been forced to resign due to allowing gaming lobbyists to influence their political decisions.
