Little BetterThe Chinese are working hard against online casinos. The industry hardly has room to breathe in the country. Law after law is being passed that prevents players from accessing online casinos. And since there is no perfect filtering system yet available for the Internet, the country has passed laws that make it very complicated or even not worthwhile to gamble at online casinos. The United States has come out against China, especially ever news was released that the Chinese government was mandating that every personal computer in the country be fitted with a piece of filtering software that prevents residents from accessing online casinos and pornography sites. According to the United States, China was endangering the Internet with such censorship laws. It would not be surprising of our trade allies laughed in our face about our attack on China. The United States have been little better when it comes to censorship. The Bush administration, in particular, was not very friendly toward online casinos and passed laws like the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The Interactive Media Entertainment Gambling Enforcement Act has several court cases on the burner against different government bodies attempting to go after online casinos by endangering the ecommerce and the Internet. President Obama has never directly come out and supported online casinos but it is well known that the Obama administration supports protecting the integrity and the openness of the Internet. The Internet would be almost useless outside of its unregulated format. Government interference would only ruin the tool that introduced the Information age. |
