New Role of the Casino Perhaps brick and mortar casinos should not be so insecure about the threat of online casinos. It is no surprised that the brick and mortar industry has had their panties in a bunch about online casinos since everyone keeps referring to them as the future of gaming. It is also a point of concern that while brick and mortar casinos find themselves losing revenue online casinos only profiting and growing. But there are some things that online casinos just cannot due and may never be able to do. While there are many online casinos creating role playing digital environments and offering live streaming video of dealers, they are simply simulations or broadcasts of the actual real thing. It is expensive yes, so brick and mortar casinos should expect to lose so revenue to online casinos, but there is nothing like traveling to a destination resort casino hotel. The Las Vegas strip is like an adult Disney World. The spectacle alone is unlike most things on the planet. People will always want to visit the bright lights and lavish casinos just for the experience. The only real difference is that now, particularly if online casinos are regulated and legalized in the United States, people do not HAVE to visit places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City for gambling entertainment. Brick and mortar casinos will be losing the monopoly they had on slot machines and roulette tables. Not that they are not already, but they will be more in the hospitality business, like Disney World and Universal Studios. |
