Account Services is quite ready to defend their business against the United States Department of Justice in from of the US District Court of Southern California.  Still showing extreme hostility to online casinos and online gambling companies the Department of Justice is claiming that the seizures were warranted because the company was in violation of the 1970 Illegal Gambling Business Act.

Not only does Account Services believe this is untrue, the company’s attorneys have compiled a whole laundry list of solid arguments to fight this action.

One of the most interesting arguments is the fact that the funds being held by account services belonged to players that visited online poker rooms not online casinos.  The money belong to members of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.  According to Account Services, there was no law being violated because poker cannot be considered illegal gambling.  Some experts have concluded that a great poker player requires the same skill level as a great chess player.  It is the skill factor of poker that makes it legal.  Other games at online casinos involve pure chance.  Some judges have already set a precedent by legally considering poker a game of skill.

Account Services also points out that the money did not belong to account services.  It belonged to the players at these two online poker rooms.  Because there are not online gambling laws that go after individual players, there is no law being violated.  The money itself was not doing anything illegal by sitting in the account.
