Representative Barney Frank is still fighting hard to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and regulate online casinos.  Although it was recently announced that his bills HR 2266 and HR 2267 would not receive any real focus from the House until the fall, Frank has shown that his focus is still on getting the bills passed.

This past weekend, Frank made an appearance at the World Series of Poker, one of the biggest events in the gambling world.  At the event he announced to thousands that he is confident that by the end of the year online casinos will be legal in the United States.  The crowd of course received the news with great cheer. 

This week has proven the Frank may not just be blowing smoke.  His bill HR 2267 already has a lot of support, yet still, this week he managed to get two more legislators to sign on as cosponsors.  Added to the list of cosponsors, already 40 names long, are Representative Paul Hodes of New Hampshire and Representative Edolphus Towns of New York.

Success of Frank’s bill was made all the more important by the difficult time that iMEGA had of proving the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act to be unlawful in the 3^rd US Circuit court of appeals.  Once again online casinos and the Internet gambling industry has cast all of its hopes onto Frank.  Luckily Frank is used to this position and if things continue as they have, online casinos will soon be legally operating in the United States.
