iMEGA Redeployed The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association may be on the verge of entering yet another court battle on the side of online casinos. Defending online casinos in, what has to be expensive, court battles has become somewhat of a full time job for the trade organization. Luckily it has not all been in vain, iMEGA has probably one more cases than it has lost. Now the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association is planning on stepping in on behalf of payment processors that have had their funds seized by the United States government. The government claims to be seizing funds acquired from online casinos and Internet gambling, but there are no legal grounds for them to take such action. “I have been playing online poker for several years believing I was doing nothing wrong,” said Barry Grelsh, an online gambler. “Now I find out the government intruded in an area where the laws do not even back up their actions. That is scary that they are able to do that.” This is not the first time the United States government has taken legal action on companies in the Internet gambling industry, but this is the first time such actions are having an effect on individual consumers. It seems that until online casinos are officially legalized and regulated in the United States the United States government on both the state and federal level will continue to persecute companies related to the industry. Hopefully Barney Frank’s bill will soon make it way to law. |
