Online Casinos Back Up PlanIf the judges of the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals are any indicator of how the rest of the government feels about online casinos, Internet gambling has a long up hill battle ahead of them in the United States. Attorney Stephen A. Saltzburg had a very difficult time arguing a point that many critics of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have agreed upon; the law is vague. According to the judges there is nothing vague about the law, it may be difficult to enforce but that is not due to vagueness, it is due to the difficulty of attaining proof. It takes a lot to overthrow a law. It does not seem likely that iMEGA has enough juice to get the law taken off of the books. Though it does not look like iMEGA will be successful, that does not mean the Barney Frank will fail as well. The Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee is taking a completely different route to achieve the same goal of iMEGA. He has introduced a bill that will make the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act obsolete. Unlike iMEGA, Frank is not burdened with attempting to show the flaws of the currently law. He just has to convince enough of his colleagues in Congress that they no longer agree with the law and the American citizens ought to have the right to gamble at online casinos. It is a lucky thing for online casinos that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is being attacked with a one-two combo. |
