Remember the old Governor Steve Beshear?  The man who was so set on protecting children from exposure to gambling that he tried to seize the domain name of 141 online casinos as if were gambling devices.  What many may not realize is that if Beshear was successful he would have jeopardized the entire Internet by subjecting international businesses to local laws.  Beshear was more than okay with that, especially if that meant children were safe from online casinos.

Now the same Governor is championing slot machines in his state.  It is as if to say that slot machines are a far less dangerous “gambling device” than online casinos.  The question is, if Kentucky legalizes a gambling device like the slot machine would that mean they are willing to through out their case currently pending in the Supreme Court against online casinos?

Governor Beshear has nothing but positive things to say about slot machines and what they could do for Kentucky.  One thing is for sure the states horse racing industry can use slot machines as an additional source of income.  No surprises that the Governor is willing to push for something that helps horse racing in Kentucky.  After all he went after almost every online casino and online gambling site catering to Kentucky residents except for the site that excepts wagers for Kentucky horse racing venues. 

Governor Beshear recently asked state legislators to look beyond their preconceived notions about slot machines.  Perhaps that means he is ready to do the same thing for online casinos.
