This is not remotely a surprise but it is wonderful to have the confirmation.  SEGA has officially announced that it intends to a poker room at SEGAPoker.com.  As popular as online casinos are there is no more popular activity among online gamblers as poker.  A new poker room is a smart start for the legendary gaming company as they venture into online gaming and online casinos. 

No one knows exactly what to expect from SEGAPoker.com but the unexpected has become the safest thing to expect from SEGA.  As a matter of fact no one really expected them to get involved with online casinos in the first place.  However, there presence adds a much appreciated legitimacy to the industry, particularly in placed like the United States where SEGA has become a household name among a particular generation of gamers. 

SEGA should be able to capitalize off of two very important things as they bring a new online poker room and a new online casino (there may be more online casinos to follow in the future).  SEGA has a global reputation that carries a clientele with it no matter what they do.  That is the benefit of having been producing games of all sorts for several decades.  SEGA is likely to see as much success with online casinos as they did producing software for console video games.   

The other thing SEGA can benefit from is the booming popularity of online poker.  Online poker has not yet reached the height of its popularity with new markets opening up month after month.  SEGA has gotten involved at a very good time.
