The United States is in a position to make a great deal of money on online casinos.  It is a shame that they have not yet realized the potential of the industry and if they have they are very slow to act.  One thing that is clear is that the ban on online casinos, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, is ineffective and a new approach needs to be taken.

That is the point where Switzerland had finally come to with online casinos. The prohibition on online gambling is completely in effective so Swiss lawmakers are looking to regulate the industry.

It has been close but no cigar with the United States up to this point on the issue of regulating online casinos.  The two countries have a lot in common with their current stance on online casinos.

“The similarities between the Swiss and the US gambling market are so clear,” explained Martin Oelbermann of MECN Research.

“The gambling markets of the US and Switzerland are structured in similar ways.  Aside from the World Trade Organization dispute, both countries can freely contemplate a potential liberalization without being pressured by third parties such as the European Commission when reviewing and drafting their regulations.” 

Although most of the Swiss focus has been specifically on online casinos, it is likely that they are going to spend time regulating online poker.  Again similar to the United States, the Swiss have a found appreciation of poker.  It is not likely, however, that there is any dispute in the country about whether poker is in fact a game of skill.
