The high expectations of loyal SEGA consumers are very helpful to the company as they have gotten off to a lackluster start with their new online casinos.  SEGA recently presented both a poker room and online casino.  Neither one of the offerings is as high tech and game changing as anyone expected but there is a sense that this is only the beginning. 

SEGA maintains a reputation as being one of the world leaders in developing innovative and creative games.  Classics like Sonic the Hedgehog and House of the Dead forever changed video games and people are expecting SEGA to bring the same ingenuity to online casinos. 

In a way SEGA already has by getting involved with online casinos in the first place.  They are the first video game company to step into online casinos and are likely, once they find success, to be a role model for other established game makers to get involved.  Some speculate that Nintendo will be next in line. 

However, in order for SEGA’s online casinos to be successful they will have to pull business away from well established companies like FullTilt and Poker Stars.  It is safe to say that that is not going to happen if SEGA continue with the minimum basics expected of online casinos as they have started out offering.

SEGA will either have to step up the game with ground breaking graphics or begin presenting titles with recognizable brand names like House of the Dead.  But, it is unlikely that the company will begin offering any brand names until they can attach it to cutting edge graphics.
