Just a Little Perspective If brick and mortar casinos would simply gain some perspective on the service they provide to communities, they might stop worrying so much about online casinos. Online casinos, while still a form of gambling provider, almost caters to absolutely different needs. To put it simply, no one that has the urge to go out to a brick and mortar casino will consider online casinos an acceptable alternative. Brick and mortar casinos, particularly the upscale resort style casinos, are similar to a night club experience. Alcohol consumption provides an interesting parallel. Imagine a group of friends that plan on going out on the town. They have at least two great options about how to get together. There is always the more affordable option of buying a few bottles of this and that and staying in. That option my be a wonderful solution from time to time, but eventually the group is going to want to dress up, go out, get food, and be amongst people. That is the same situation with online casinos. People that frequent brick and mortar casinos are not likely to completely boycott them simply because the cheaper alternative of online casinos is available. People do not mind paying for and experience. You will see dips in the going out trend from time to time, particularly during times of economic hardship, like now. But the same thing is happening on the bar and club scene. More people are now staying and drinking with friends than times of economic prosperity. That does not mean things will not soon turn around. |
