Never Give UpIf at first you do not
succeed. Try, try again. That is the approach the Internet Media
Entertainment and Gaming Association has taken with the task of regulating
online casinos. The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming
Association, otherwise known as iMEGA, has really taken the reigns as the
premier organization fighting for the rights of online casino providers in
the United States.
While iMEGA certainly recognizes the efforts being
made in Washington to regulate online casinos, they are painfully aware
how delayed and tied up things can get on the Federal level. That is the
reason why initiative one a state level excite the organization so much.
“The efforts to resolve the Internet gambling issue
have stalled in Washington DC,” said Interactive Media Entertainment and
Gaming Association Chairman Joe Brennan.
“If states assert their right to regulate gambling within their borders
and take a serious look at permitting Internet gambling, one side effect
may be a breaking of the deadlock in the US Congress.”
New Jersey, a state that has seemingly exhausted
their options for gambling expansion, is set to push the envelope even
further. Senator Raymond Lesniak has proposed the making it legal for
Atlantic City brick and mortar venues to provide casino games like
blackjack, roulette, and slots over the Internet. This is essentially
giving them the rights to operate online casinos, but worded the other way
it does not seem so much like legalizing online casinos that it does
provide online gambling options beyond online horse wagering and lottery.
