Apple stated off the New Year with its latest gadget, the iPad.  There was a lot of hype and anticipation over Apple finally releasing its tablet computer.  And now that it is hear there are very mixed feelings.  Some people do not believe the iPad is anything but an oversized iPhone.  These cynical comments are not far off, as a lot of the technology in the iPad is not brand new.  However, the iPad is far more capable than any iPhone.  And even if it is just a big iPhone, that says a lot for luxury; after all, not everyone can stand watching their movies on a three inch screen.

For our purposes, the iPad looks as if it will be a great step forward for the mobility of online casinos.  The iPad comes with WiFi capability as well as 3G capabilities through AT&T.  That means people will be able to access their online casinos anywhere on a handy iPad with a screen the size of a text book.

The iPad is not so much an oversized cellular phone as it is a streamlined computer.  This will allow people to carry their media, including online casinos, from room to room with ease.    

The iPad and the popularity of a the tablet computer is likely to introduce a whole generation of online casino software that responds to touch screens.  The tablet computer is not a brand new idea, but no company as been able to introduce the model that makes it a mainstay and not a passing fad.  The iPad may be that model.
