Progress on Different Fronts
The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming
Association could not be more proud of the effort being
made in the United State to regulate online casinos.
Well, I am sure they could be more proud, but they are a
least feeling good about the separate efforts being made
at all levels of government to regulate online casinos.
Quite a few buns are in the fire
and one is bound to lead to legalization and regulation
of online casinos in the United States. The most
prominent movement is perhaps on the part of
Representative Barney Frank who is attempting to get a
bill that will regulate online casinos passed in the
House. In the Senate, Senator Robert Mendez has been
trying to pass a bill that would at least regulate
online poker. Finally on a state level, New Jersey
Senator Raymond Lesniak proposed a bill that would allow
Atlantic City to offer online casino services.
“We're happy that New Jersey has
taken this issue into their own hands,” said Interactive
Media Entertainment and Gaming Association chairman Joe
Brennan Jr.
“New Jersey is recognized as having the toughest gaming
regulators in the US, but as a leading gaming state with
a long track record of doing things the right way,
Internet gambling will have a great home here and the
opportunity to begin normalizing the industry.
The bill being proposed in New
Jersey would simply legalize wagering online for casino
games like Blackjack and slot machines the same way that
wagering online for horse racing is legal.
