Tribes Band Together

Perhaps if Native Americans had banned together earlier the history of the United States would have been a lot different.  Now tribes in California are being urged to unite over something a lot less dire but could still have a tremendous impact on their future.  It has often been theorized that online poker would be legalized in the United States before online casinos and no where is that closer to a reality than in California.

Since last year the Morongo Band of Mission Indians has been trying to get an early corner on the online poker market in California.  They teamed up with four card rooms in California and campaigned for legislation that would give them exclusive rights to offer online poker in the states.  The Morongo Band gets points for thinking outside of the box and being forward thinkers at that.  Online casinos and online gambling are an undeniable part of the future of gaming, now is the time for brick and mortar gambling operators to start grabbing for a piece of the pie.

What they did not foresee was how disappointed other tribes in California would be.  The other tribes were not upset because they did not think of the idea first, but there is a belief that online casinos and online poker could lead to the demise of tribal gaming.  Many tribal leaders believe it will only be a matter of time before tribes lose control over the gambling market in California if online casinos are regulated in the United States.
