Kentucky on the Ropes

We have not visited the very bizarre Kentucky case involving an attempt by the Governor to seize the domain of 141 online casinos.  That is probably because things are apparently going well.  Do not rock the boat, as they say.  It appears that the plaintiff, essentially online casinos and the online gambling industry, has the Commonwealth of Kentucky on the ropes and the state is getting desperate.

The latest attempt at a rope-a-dope by the state of Kentucky is a second attempt to add new defendants to the case.  The new list, which happens to include US citizens, is a result of new investigative finds according to the lawyers representing Kentucky.

The lawyers still representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky are an interesting group in and of themselves.  The Attorney General of Kentucky has long since abandoned the case, perhaps recognizing an attempt to seize domain names, online casinos or otherwise, could open up flood gates that would destroy the Internet internationally.  The attorneys still representing Kentucky are all private attorneys.  These vultures have decided to stick it for the long hall because they are looking to get paid for their work.  As long as this case has been going on there are likely a few attorneys that need to see some money for their efforts.

Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association chairman Joe Brennan, believes that this search for new defendants is an act of desperation on the part of the private lawyers still working the case.  They are hoping to find someone, anyone that will sway the opinion of the court against online casinos.
