Waiting for Online Casinos Whatever could the United States be waiting for? Online casinos have certainly already proven themselves. Online casinos are not a passing fad and they are likely to dictate the future of the gambling industry over the coming decades. There is a lot of money to be made, both legally and illegally, in this multibillion dollar industry and yet the United States has yet to really get involved; not even as a means of consumer protection. Other countries and governments have chosen to get involved with online casinos because of the enormous financial opportunities presented by the industry; Argentina being the must recent. Europe has shown to be very online casino friendly. Not all countries in the European Union have legalized online casinos, but the European Commission is attempting to urge them all in that direction. While the United States sits out it gives fuel to the criminal element that has not yet been weeded out of online casinos. There are still several sites, operated by less than honest people. The only way that these people can stop preying on American Internet gamblers is by establishing consumer protection laws and a body to oversee online casinos and online gambling. The House will soon consider a bill that will regulate online casinos in the United States. Its about time the United State started participating in the sea change. Online casinos are going so quickly as an industry because it is becoming more and more apparent that the brick and mortar gambling industry will at least need to collaborate with online casinos if they are to survive at all.
