The Baltic nation of Estonia is setting out to create a perfect regulatory environment for online casinos.  It would take a lot to make any regulatory environment perfect, but with online casinos there are some well known problems that the industry faces and Estonia is setting out to tackle all of those problems the best way technology can allow.

One of the first problems facing online casinos is regulation itself.  Several countries have claimed to embrace online casinos while attempting to stifle the industry.  Part of what makes online casinos so unique is its inherent international community.  Several countries have tried to regulate online casinos while protecting domestic operators.  Estonia plans to license both European and foreign operators provided they take the proper measures to acquire an Estonian online gambling license.

The next problem facing online casinos are the operators themselves.  Online casinos and Internet gambling are still very young industries and the process of regulating them is even younger so it is still not crystal clear which companies are the most trustworthy.  There are quite a few untrustworthy operators still being fished out.  Estonia plans to run detailed background checks on all operators applying for an operator’s license.  In addition to that, the country will take legal and technological measures against operators attempting to offer services in the country without attaining an proper license.  

Estonia also plans to further explore ways to reduce the spread of problem gambling and put an end to underage gambling online.  There certainly is software available to aid in this endeavor.
