Gambling Goes International with Online Casinos

Online casinos have uncovered a problem in the United State gaming market.  There is an issue of control that may never be solved.  For years the brick and mortar gaming industry has been the authority on casino action, in truth until the Internet revolution it could not really be any other way.  Competition could only exist in the physical world with other casinos on the strip or in neighboring states.

Then the Internet came along with and invented a whole new way of doing business.  The idea of competition instantly became an international issue.  Suddenly businesses were no longer competing simply against local businesses offering the same services, the Internet allowed companies from all across the world to compete in the same market.  Convenience was no longer measured in a drive, now people can purchase or gamble with companies halfway around the world with the ease of having them located in their living room.

It has become clear that the problem with online casinos in the United States is not an issue of governments being reluctant to spread gambling.  48 states offer some form of legal gambling.  The problem is that with the Internet, governments can no longer be sure that they will see the profit from gambling activities.  Online casinos are an especially difficult industry because the industry largely originated in offshore countries and many companies still operate from those locations.

The truth is that the United States really does not have much option other than to regulate the industry; that is, if they intend to benefit monetarily at all from online casinos.
