Hand in Hand

Gambling expansion is unavoidable.  Gambling is simply a lucrative industry and governments find it to be an exceptionally useful tool in raising revenue.  It does not matter if it is online casinos, slot machines, or other forms of online gambling.  Once governments get a taste of how much money they can make off of taxing gambling, the time will come when gambling will expand.

That especially seems the trend these days during the current global recession.  Governments from all over are in need of new revenues and gambling expansion seems to be the easiest answer.  Some governments on both a federal and local level are offering gambling for the first time or introducing all new forms of gambling.  Others are simply offering more of what was already in place.

British Columbia has offered legalized online gambling for their Lottery for some time now.  However since 2007 the gambling limits in place have steadily increased.  Gambling limits were put in place because many officials believed that gambling online could endanger the stability of families in the promise by catering to facilitating the impulses of problem gamblers.

When the limits were first put in place it was set at a very modest $70 per week.  That limit was soon increased to $120 each week.   Recently the limit took an astronomical leap to $9,999 each week.  It was said that the limit was increased to give consumers more liberty in wagering, but it is likely that the increase was triggered by an opportunity to make much more money.
