Lost Fortune

In most cases it pays to be creative.  But when dealing with grey areas of the law, that ingenuity can get you into a lot of trouble and all that was paid to you can suddenly disappear.  Federal prosecutors have no intentions of taking it easy on Douglas Rennick of Canada.

Rennick, 30 years old, came up with a particularly creative and exceptionally lucrative idea of acting as a payment processor for off shore online casinos still looking for ways to service consumers in the United States despite the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.  The online casinos and Internet gambling sites relied on Rennick’s services to make payments to winning players and players seeking to cash out their accounts.

Although Rennick is being accused of processing an excess of $350 million he has reportedly earned $565.9 million since he began his services back in 2007.  There is hardly a quicker way to make a lot of money than keeping your eye open for a service or need that needs to be filled and filling it.  That is what Rennick did and he has a fortune to show for it.

Unfortunately, the federal prosecutors do not just want a piece of the fortune they want all of it.  Prosecutors are demanding that Rennick forfeit the money he earned from this enterprise.

Rennick apparently lied about the use of his bank accounts to the bank because if the bank had know that they were processing money related to online casinos they would have refused to service Rennick’s needs.
