The United States may have already waited way too long to achieve an aggressive foothold in online casinos.  Even Europe is realizing that it will have trouble competing with the offshore countries that have long been involved in online casinos.  The United Kingdom is already finding it very difficult to compete with Gibraltar as two of its major online casino operators have jumped ship to take advantage of much cheaper tax rates.

Online casinos are well on there way to being regulated in the United States.  Due to the enterprising and entrepreneurial spirit of the United States it is unlikely that the United States will cease at taking taxes from overseas operations.  It is only a matter of time before the United States seeks to host online gambling operations and even via for creating a major industry hub for online casinos. 

Senator Robert Mendez has already begun to dream of that future.  While Representative Barney Frank seems to be focusing all of his energy on simply getting online casinos legalized in the United States, Mendez has expressed interest in making a way possible to attract online gambling companies to operate domestically.

While the appeal of having American grown online casinos is obvious, that may be a touch trickier than it would initially seem.  The United Kingdom tried the same thing when it finally legalized online casinos, unfortunately, years later it is becoming obvious that the United Kingdom may not be able to compete with countries like Gibraltar that only requests a fraction of taxation from companies operating online casinos on their shores.
